Two iconic 26 storey buildings dominated the Glasgow skyline for many years until the decision to remove the two iconic blocks in 2014. C&D were employed to act as principal designer and demolition engineers on a new and revolutionary method of demolition. Safedem the principal contractor employed by GHA partnered Despe an award-winning Italian demolition company. This partnership culminated in winning the world demolition awards in 2015 for collaboration.
C&D flew to Italy trained the demolition operatives in UK legislation, carried our project management and acted as principal designer.
This new technology is now being undertaken in many of the world’s leading city demolitions. C&D are licensed and are the only approved consultancy company to work with the ‘Top-down way’ in the world.
