Initially, the demolition methodology was not accepted by C&D and considered that the contractor had not adequately assessed the risks of the demolition methodology. C&D was then asked to work with the contractor to produce a SSoW and derisk the likelihood that the demolition would affect the electrical blast walls. The complete change of methodology adopted worked so well that the demolition contractor now employes C&D to assist in their technical assessments of demolition projects.
Clearly, one of Londons most famous buildings is now completed but the enormity of the building and the project required a significant marketing suite to be erected on the site footprint. This five million pound marketing suite with a glass façade and displaying a mini snapshot of the development was certainly a challenge for the demolition contractor. Once again C&D were employed to project manage the whole demolition, approve the demolition methodology and ensure it was compliant with BS:6187-2011.
Working with very little space in one of the most congested areas within the City of London the project was finished on time and with zero incidents. This has now been developed and it is a new five-star hotel situated on the south banks of London.
