Leicestershire Water tower

Contract Value: £0.4M

Service: Structural and Demolition Engineering

Following the confirmation that the Second World War built water tank was unsafe and failing structurally, the C&D team were called to immediately Project Manage the Bank Holiday demolition. Located on a busy industrial estate in Leicestershire, the failing structure was located just metres away from 3 live buildings, with approximately 200 tonnes of steel up 25m above the nearby office block.

The team, with the help of UDCS Contractors, had just 12 hours on Easter Friday to get the unsafe structure, down and on the ground. Starting early in the morning C&D carried out an in-depth site safety briefing along with reiterating the demolition methodology to all operatives and machine drivers. What followed was precision Project Management, with constant communication of all the site team.

After 11 hours the water tower was carefully dismantled and down on the ground ready for processing the following day. This project shows that the team can perform to high levels of competency whilst also being under tight time schedules for a client in need.
