Contract Value: £750M
Service: Structural Report and Demolition Engineering
Date: 2022-2023
In Autumn of 2022, on the cusp of the FIFA World Cup the C&D team were contacted to fly out to Qatar in order to Manage and Design the Deconstruction of a 55m high steel ship container, which caught fire at dockside, leaving the structure unstable and unsafe. With no recognised major demolition projects ever occurring in Qatar a local construction contractor employed C&D for there expert advice and knowledge in order to manage the 18-month long project.
The work consisted of an initial scoping exercise, followed by structural report, temporary works design and demolition engineering. Eventually resulting in full time Project Management with an on-site Demolition Engineer 6 days a week. Battling with extreme heat and an untrained workforce the team managed to safely dismantle all 5,000 tonne of structural fire damaged steel. The Client Qatar Energy were delighted with the outcome of the project and commented on the reliability and professionalism of the C&D Team, expressing their ambition to embark on more ventures in the future.
